WHAT WILL YOU DO

Under the direction of the GM, Integrated Operations Centre (IOC), the Manager of IOC Training and Standards will play an essential leadership role in the effective development and delivery of operational documentation and internal training programs.

The Manager, of IOC Training and Standards is responsible for prioritizing, creating and delivering documentation and training programs in support of existing roles, new process, regulatory changes, and operational continuous improvement. This position will be required to not only support the work of others, but also able to act as a subject matter expert relating to documentation and training best practice and industry standards and the document and training management system.

WHAT ARE SOME OF THE RESPONSIBILITIES 

  • Implement, maintain, and measure the success of documentation and learning programs for IOC operational staff.
  • Conduct training sessions in the appropriate format to the learner and subject matter, which includes online and in-class (adaptable to shift working environment).
  • Source, create, and deliver documentation and learning solutions that align to the Authority’s Strategic Plan and support the continuous improvement of staff and the IOC programs.
  • Partner closely with Airside, Safety, Security, Environmental, Terminal, Project Teams, and other YYC Departments to develop strategies and action plans for new learning and documentation program offerings.
  • Research external training programs to support YYC Crew job specific needs.
  • Create, enhance, deliver and review the IOC On-The-Job Training (OJT) Program.
  • Oversee the production of content and communication for program portfolio.
  • Manage and report on program outcomes and metrics.
  • Schedule and deliver onboarding and recurrent training plans for all IOC employees.
  • Support the evaluation of all IOC employees in required competencies, owning evaluation standards and frameworks.
  • Liaise with IOC Leadership to identify knowledge and skill deficiencies with employees.
  • Support OJT Instructors and IOC Leadership on course delivery, proficiencies and providing constructive and effective feedback.
  • Support Development Plan and Goals creation and tracking to ensure support in achieving organization goals, positively impact the Authority’s operations, and personal development opportunities.
  • Working with YYC Crew and stakeholders to create, develop and facilitate engaging, highly interactive, content.
  • Conduct needs assessments to determine appropriate learning and documentation solutions.
  • Stay abreast of and incorporate current yet relevant innovations, methodologies and modalities of professional adult learning.
  • Create and manage annual compliance training.
  • Maintain governance document ensuring new documentation and learning content is effectively and consistently managed.
  • Provide subject matter expertise on the organization’s learning management system for all Crew in the IOC.

WHAT DO YOU NEED TO BRING

  •  The ability to gain and maintain a RAIC (RAIC Program and Application Information)
  • Post-secondary education in educational/instructional design, business administration, human resources or related are required. Relevant experience in lieu of education may be considered.
  • 3+ years’ experience in a related function facilitating or building training programs, preferably in a complex operations environment.
  • 1+ years relevant experience in an operational environment, preferably in aviation.
  • Strong experience in the design and development of adult education training programs, including knowledge of adult learning principles, training methodologies, and training design.
  • Strong experience in training delivery, public speaking, facilitation and presentations.
  • Experience in preparing documentation management protocols including development of policies and standard operating procedures and version control.
  • Experience in document management systems and learning management systems.
  • Experience with graphic, video and training design software.
  • Strong computer skills in Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Outlook
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to build and maintain professional relationships at all levels with airport stakeholders, Authority staff, training participants and the airport community.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proven analytical, planning and organization skills.

WHAT OPTIONAL ELEMENTS SUPPORT YOUR APPLICATION (all are assets)

  • Bilingual in English or French
  • Strong knowledge and understanding of the aviation industry, airport operations, and airline operating procedures is preferred.
  • Leadership experience, with the ability to effectively build successful and harmonious teams is preferred.
