WHAT WILL YOU DO
The Coordinator, Corporate Safety ensures a safe working environment by conducting regular safety inspections, maintaining comprehensive safety records, and collaborating with various stakeholders to enforce safety protocols. The Coordinator, Corporate Safety will also facilitate safety training sessions, review construction plans for safety compliance, and promote a strong safety culture through meetings and communication.

WHAT ARE SOME OF THE RESPONSIBILITIES
- Conduct regular safety inspections at construction sites and work areas to identify potential hazards, non-compliance with safety regulations, and unsafe practices.
- Maintain accurate and comprehensive records of safety inspections, training sessions, and safety-related documentation.
- Conduct report triage of the Company Reporting System database, assigning safety investigations to Corporate Safety Specialists and/or Safety Compliance Officers based on documented process.
- Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and workers to establish and enforce safety protocols and procedures in alignment with industry standards and applicable regulations.
- Review and assess construction plans, permits, and blueprints to ensure that safety measures and protocols are integrated into project designs and execution plans.
- Facilitates safety and training sessions for employees, emphasizing safe work practices, equipment operation, and emergency response procedures.
- Conduct toolbox talks and safety meetings to communicate important safety information, address concerns, and promote a strong safety culture among all team members.
- Collaborate with regulatory agencies, as needed, to ensure compliance with local, provincial, and federal safety regulations and standards.
- Stay updated on advancements in safety regulations, best practices, and industry standards to continuously improve safety initiatives and processes.
WHAT DO YOU NEED TO BRING
- Post-secondary education in safety or environmental studies, or similar is preferred, but professional equivalent experience may be considered.
- 1+ years’ experience as a Safety Inspector in a similar environment.
- In-depth knowledge of Canadian construction safety regulations, codes, and practices, staying current with updates and amendments in the Canadian safety landscape.
- Proficiency in utilizing safety software and tools commonly used for inspections, reporting, and administrative tasks, ensuring compliance with Canadian safety requirements and efficient data management.
- Knowledge of hazardous materials and emergency response protocols
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively convey safety-related information to diverse audiences.
- Ability to work as part of a team and collaborate with others across departments.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively.
- Attention to detail to ensure safety standards are met and reports/documentation are accurate.
- Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to identify safety hazards and recommend corrective actions.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Must possess a valid Class 5 Alberta Driver’s License or equivalent, subject to a clean driver’s abstract.
- Ability to obtain AVOP is required.
