WHAT WILL YOU DO

As the technical expert, the HR Systems Specialist is responsible for the seamless management and optimization of our HRIS (Ceridian Dayforce), ensuring accuracy of information within all system modules. This role serves as the primary point of contact for all things related to our system, ensuring that Dayforce meets the diverse business needs of our end users, covering various HR functions, such as pay, benefits time and attendance, recruitment, talent management, and more. The HR Systems Specialist plays a critical role in transforming HR data into actionable insights, compiling and presenting workforce data in in clear, user-friendly formats that enable leadership to forecast trends, identify opportunities for process improvement, and enhance the overall employee experience. By creating dashboards, reports, and data visualizations, the HR Systems Specialist will equip the People team and leaders with the tools needed to make data-driven decisions that align with organizational goals.

WHAT"S THE TEAM LIKE

The People Systems and Total Rewards team plays a critical role in optimizing how we manage and reward our Crew. This team ensures that our HR systems run smoothly and that our compensation, benefits, and rewards programs are competitive and aligned with our business goals. With their expertise, they ensure our Crew is supported with the right tools, recognition, and rewards to succeed.

WHAT ARE SOME OF THE RESPONSIBILITIES 

  • Manage and maintain the HRIS system, ensuring optimal performance, data integrity and accuracy, combined with system reliability.
  • Oversee the configuration of system settings, workflows, user roles, and permissions to meet organizational needs and ensure a seamless user experience.
  • Perform regular system audits and data cleansing to maintain accurate and up-to-date employee records and to ensure data accuracy.
  • Develop and maintain system documentation, including configuration guides, data dictionaries, and manuals, to ensure consistent operations and knowledge sharing.
  • Serve as the first point of contact for troubleshooting and resolving HRIS system-related issues.
  • Provide training and guidance to HR staff and end-users on system functionality and best practices.
  • Ensure that HRIS configurations comply with data protection regulations (e.g. PIPEDA) and internal policies.
  • Monitor system performance and identify opportunities to improve functionality, resolve issues, and address evolving business needs.
  • Lead the planning, design, and rollout of new HRIS modules or system features to meet evolving business needs.
  • Partner with stakeholders across HR, IT, and other departments to gather requirements, define objectives, and ensure alignment with organizational goals.
  • Conduct system testing, including user acceptance testing (UAT), to ensure new modules function as expected and meet performance standards.
  • Develop and execute project plans, timelines, and milestones, ensuring timely and successful deployment.
  • Monitor post-implementation performance and address any issues or enhancements needed to optimize the system’s functionality.
  • Develop and deliver comprehensive reports, dashboards, and visualizations to provide insights into key HR metrics such as headcount, turnover, recruitment, performance, and employee engagement.
  • Analyze HR data to identify patterns, correlations, and key performance indicators (KPIs) that support strategic decision-making and drive business outcomes.
  • Participate in continuous improvement efforts to enhance data management and reporting capabilities.

WHAT DO YOU NEED TO BRING

  • The ability to gain and maintain a RAIC (RAIC Program and Application Information)
  • Post Secondary bachelor’s degree in human resources, Information Systems, Business Administration or a related field.
  • Minimum of 3-6 years of experience in HRIS administration, systems optimization, and data analytics, preferably with Ceridian Dayforce or similar HRIS platform
  • Proven experience with data visualization tools such as Excel, Tableau, Power BI or Snowflake for creating insightful dashboards and reports is essential.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data, identify trends, and provide actionable insights.
  • Experience working with structured and unstructured data, including handling Personally Identifiable Information (PII) and sensitive information in compliance with data privacy regulations.
  • Demonstrated expertise in conducting data audits to ensure system data accuracy, compliance, and integrity.
  • In-depth understanding of HRIS platforms, with a strong technical knowledge of Ceridian Dayforce (or comparable systems) and their capabilities.
  • Strong knowledge of HR processes and functions, including payroll, benefits administration, talent management, and time & attendance.
  • Ability to identify and resolve system issues quickly, troubleshoot technical problems, and implement effective solutions.
  • Exceptional accuracy in managing and auditing system data, ensuring integrity and compliance.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to train, support, and collaborate with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

WHAT OPTIONAL ELEMENTS SUPPORT YOUR APPLICATION (all are assets)

  • Knowledge of project management principles, including requirements gathering, testing, implementation, and change management.
