WHAT’S THE TEAM LIKE

The facility maintenance team ensures the smooth operation of all spaces at a busy 24/7 airport, keeping terminals, offices, and other buildings safe, functional, and well-maintained. They handle maintenance repairs, project related work, HVAC, plumbing, and electrical systems to support airport operations and passenger comfort. This team ensures safe, efficient, and reliable operations, supporting 24/7 airport activities and driving smart building initiatives.

WHAT ARE SOME OF THE RESPONSIBILITIES 

  • Lead the delivery of electrical capital projects from initiation through close-out, ensuring scope, schedule, budget, quality, and safety requirements are achieved.
  • Apply technical knowledge of electrical systems, including power distribution and life safety systems, to support design reviews, construction coordination, and commissioning.
  • Manage project financials, including budgeting, forecasting, cost tracking, and contractor progress validation.
  • Provide direction to consultants and contractors by reviewing technical submissions, coordinating deliverables, and ensuring alignment with project standards.
  • Coordinate project integration within a live airport environment, including outage planning, shutdowns, and operational readiness activities.
  • Communicate project risks, constraints, and impacts to stakeholders to support informed decision-making and operational alignment.
  • Ensure compliance with OH&S legislation, electrical codes, and airport safety requirements while identifying and escalating risks.
  • Oversee construction activities including site inspections, deficiency management, and project close-out in high-risk operational environment.

WHAT DO YOU NEED TO BRING

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant discipline such as Electrical Engineering or a related field (e.g., Engineering, Construction Management, or Project Management) is required. Relevant extensive professional experience may be considered in lieu of formal education.
  • 6-8 years of experience leading and delivering electrical infrastructure or capital projects with significant operational and stakeholder impact is required.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage external consultants and contractors, with working knowledge of construction safety, scheduling, budgeting, and contract administration.
  • Strong technical expertise with the ability to apply electrical systems knowledge, project lifecycle methodologies, contract administration, and financial controls to deliver projects and resolve complex scope, design, and construction challenges within defined authority limits.
  • Ability to analyze and resolve complex project issues, communicate technical and risk-related information clearly to stakeholders, build effective cross-functional relationships, and manage multiple priorities to ensure accurate, timely, and coordinated project execution
  • As this position is considered safety-sensitive, candidates must successfully complete pre-employment drug and alcohol testing as part of the hiring process.
  • This role includes driving as part of its duties; therefore, candidates will be required to provide a valid Class 5 driver’s license and a current driver’s abstract as part of the hiring process.

WHAT ADDITIONAL SKILLS ARE AN ASSET

  • Professional certifications are highly valued, including Project Management Professional (PMP) and/or Professional Engineer (P.Eng.), or eligibility and progress toward these designations.
  • Experience delivering projects within airport, transportation, or other critical infrastructure environments.
  • Bilingual in English and French.
