WHAT’S THE TEAM LIKE

The facility maintenance team ensures the smooth operation of all indoor spaces at the busy 24/7 airport, keeping terminals, offices, and other buildings safe, functional, and well-maintained. They handle repairs, HVAC, plumbing, and electrical systems to support airport operations and passenger comfort. This team ensures safe, efficient, and reliable operations, supporting 24/7 airport activities and driving smart building initiatives.

WHAT ARE SOME OF THE RESPONSIBILITIES 

  • Lead electrical intake and coordination by acting as the primary Electrical Department contact for Calgary Airports’ redevelopment projects and directing technical inquiries to appropriate stakeholders.
  • Integrate electrical scope across project phases by embedding electrical requirements into planning, design, construction, commissioning, and close-out activities.
  • Review electrical designs and manage RFIs by evaluating drawings, specifications, and submittals, coordinating responses to technical inquiries, and confirming readiness for construction.
  • Engage stakeholders and contractors by communicating electrical requirements, resolving cross-disciplinary coordination issues, and aligning project teams on technical expectations.
  • Identify and escalate risks and deficiencies by analyzing designs and field conditions, assessing impacts to safety and operations, and coordinating resolution of complex technical issues.
  • Verify field execution and compliance by conducting site inspections, monitoring contractor work, and ensuring alignment with Calgary Airports’ standards, Canadian Electrical Code, and CSA safety requirements.
  • Support commissioning and project turnover by validating system readiness, confirming completion of electrical deliverables, and ensuring seamless integration into existing airport infrastructure.

WHAT DO YOU NEED TO BRING

  • Graduation from an electrical apprenticeship program (journeyperson electrician certification) is required. Post-secondary education in Electrical Engineering Technology or Electrical Engineering is an asset.
  • 4-6 years of hands-on experience delivering electrical construction or engineering projects in complex operational environments is required.
  • Proven experience conducting site inspections and working directly with contractors and consultants to verify installation quality and resolve technical issues.
  • Demonstrated ability to interpret electrical drawings, specifications, and technical documents to validate compliance with codes, standards, and project requirements.
  • Strong collaboration and communication skills with the ability to engage diverse stakeholders, resolve technical conflicts, and clearly convey complex electrical requirements, demonstrated through experience working with contractors, consultants, and internal teams to drive issue resolution and maintain alignment across multiple concurrent projects.
  • As this position is considered safety-sensitive, candidates must successfully complete pre-employment drug and alcohol testing as part of the hiring process.
  • This role includes driving as part of its duties; therefore, candidates will be required to provide a valid Class 5 driver’s license and a current driver’s abstract as part of the hiring process.

WHAT ADDITIONAL SKILLS ARE AN ASSET

  • Professional certification such as P.Eng., CET, or equivalent.
  • Experience using Procore or similar construction management software.
  • Experience working in large-scale, regulated, or 24/7 operational environments.
  • Bilingual in English and French
