WHAT’S THE TEAM LIKE
The Airport Operations Control Specialist (AOC) plays a critical role within the Integrated Operations Centre (IOC), serving as the frontline point of contact for the airport community. This position ensures timely, coordinated responses to operational issues and contributes directly to the safe and efficient flow of day‑of airport operations. The AOC actively monitors multiple airport systems to identify and address emerging issues before they impact service delivery. As a generalist, the AOC brings a broad understanding of airport operations across the entire YYC campus, including the facility maintenance programs that support a complex, 24/7 operational environment.
WHAT ARE SOME OF THE RESPONSIBILITIES
- Monitor various facility monitoring systems located in the IOC
- Ensure appropriate resources are dispatched for response in a timely manner.
- Report/escalate issues that arise to appropriate parties including the Manager Operations, Airports (MOA), direct supervisor, and business owner(s)
- Act as a central point of contact for airport communications by monitoring multiple radio channels and phone lines
- Operating various systems for the tracking of incidents; determining the appropriate responder(s) or resource to attend to an operational activity
- Monitor the fire alarm system for fire, supervisory, and trouble alarms.
- Monitor the number of open work orders and incident reports; Follow up on responses that exceed normal return to service times
- Track all open and active maintenance on demand for airport resources and assets Follow up on responses that exceed normal return to service times and escalate impacted IOC personnel
- Ensure Irregular operations (IROP) procedures are implemented when required, understanding IROP impact on operations and escalate as required
- Document and report all complaints, problems, incidents, events, activities, deficiencies or concerns
WHAT DO YOU NEED TO BRING

- Post-secondary diploma in airport operations or related, relevant professional experience may be considered in lieu of formal education
- Minimum of two (2) years’ experience within an airport, aviation, or emergency dispatch call centre environment or similar.
- The ability to liaise with internal and external stakeholder groups on a regular basis
- The ability to quickly gain knowledge of the IOC and the roles of all staff within
WHAT ADDITIONAL SKILLS ARE AN ASSET
- Bilingual in English and French
- A broad knowledge of all aspects of airport operations is an asset
