WHAT’S THE TEAM LIKE

The Retail and Hospitality Development team is responsible for leading and developing the airport terminal commercial, hospitality and retail landscape at YYC. This means looking for creative new concepts to deliver the best shopping, dining, and service’s options at one of Canada’s busiest airports. A diverse team with a passion for delivering customer needs, this team is at the forefront of hospitality and retail trends and is focused on building a dynamic program with a holistic guest experience.

WHAT ARE SOME OF THE RESPONSIBILITIES 

  • Handle all leases, licenses, and agreements for the retail and hospitality team new and expiring arising from the International Terminal Building, other net new contracts and support the team identify revenue opportunities.
  • Periodically support with tenant audit practices to ensure compliance and prevent security breaches.
  • Negotiation Facilitation: Collaborate with Retail Managers to negotiate and complete leases, renewals, and amendments, coordinating with airport legal counsel.
  • Drafting Agreements: Draft and review new and expiring leasing agreements, extensions, and renewals in collaboration with legal and retail managers prior to execution supporting renewal of agreement arising from the International Terminal Building and other net new contracts.
  • Support the Retail Managers with identifying new potential revenue opportunities that may arise from reviewing new or expiring agreements.
  • Ensure compliance with guidelines and implement the Supply Chain Management Program to meet Transport Canada Security & Emergency Preparedness Plan requirements.
  • Responsible for the storage, updating, accuracy and integrity of agreements in all systems (e.g., Propworks)
  • Act as a liaison between Retail Managers, General Manager, tenants, and YYC’s legal department for execution of new and expiring agreements.

WHAT DO YOU NEED TO BRING

  • Post-secondary Diploma in Business Administration, Real Estate, or related field. Relevant professional experience may be considered in lieu of formal education.
  • 2 to 4 years of experience in a similar role with demonstrated experience managing leases and supporting negotiations.
  • Proven ability to manage full agreement workflows, including initiating, revising, and completing contracts.
  • Experience in supporting negotiation processes and collaboration with legal and commercial teams.
  • Understanding of landlord-tenant relationships, including obligations of both parties under lease provisions.
  • Familiarity with financial pro-formas, including basic financial math such as calculating net present value to evaluate lease viability.
  • Foundational knowledge of budgeting and accounting, including the ability to interpret financial statements and maintain accurate records.
  • Excellent Microsoft Office Proficiency (Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Outlook) skills to amend, prepare and edit new or existing lease agreements and contracts.
  • Adaptable and personable professional who can effectively manage competing priorities in a fast‑paced, evolving environment while building strong working relationships across teams and with tenants.
  • Outstanding Data Analysis & Interpretation skills to review terms and conditions of lease agreements and interpret clauses which could present revenue generating opportunities.
