WHAT YOU WILL DO

The Project Manager I, G7 will lead and manage the critical project planning phase for the development and preparation of an airport facility to accommodate the G7 Summit. This high-profile project demands meticulous planning, coordination, and execution to ensure the seamless arrival and departure of world leaders and their delegations. The Project Manager will play a pivotal role in orchestrating the complex planning activities, collaborating with diverse stakeholders, and setting the foundation for the successful implementation of this significant endeavor.

RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

  • Lead the planning, scheduling, and coordination of project activities related to the G7 Summit taking place in 2025, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and international standards.
  • Develop comprehensive project plans, including scope, schedule, cost estimates, resource allocation, and milestones.
  • Monitor project progress, updating schedules, timelines, and adjusting plans as needed to meet critical deadlines.
  • Estimate high-level project costs, track expenses, and regularly update budgets using internal systems (e.g., CPERS).
  • Identify and manage project risks during the charter phase, implementing mitigation strategies and continuously assessing unplanned risks.
  • Chair or participate in key meetings related to project planning, design, and construction, ensuring the development and communication of detailed operational plans.
  • Work closely with Airport Operations to minimize disruption and ensure safe project execution within tight operational windows.
  • Collaborate with senior project managers and directors to review deliverables and ensure quality control, adherence to budgets, and timely delivery.
  • Act as the central point of contact for all project-related communication, engaging with internal departments (Operations, Security, Finance, Communications, Government and Stakeholder Relations) and external stakeholders (regulatory agencies, government bodies, contractors).
  • Facilitate stakeholder meetings and presentations to ensure transparency and alignment on project goals, risks, and timelines.
  • Maintain regular communication with all stakeholders throughout the project lifecycle, providing updates on progress, risks, and issues.
  • Represent the project in meetings with international bodies and government agencies to coordinate smooth operations for the G7 Summit.
  • Develop and implement risk management plans to mitigate project risks during the planning and execution phases.
  • Conduct regular site visits and inspections to monitor project progress, ensuring compliance with safety regulations and quality standards.
  • Implement corrective actions where necessary to address project deviations or delays.
  • Oversee the financial management of the project, including establishing project budgets, tracking and updating costs, and forecasting cash flows.
  • Collaborate with the finance team to ensure accurate processing of invoices and payments, maintaining financial performance transparency.
  • Identify areas for cost savings and efficiency improvements while ensuring alignment with the project budget.

WHAT YOU BRING

  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration, Project Management or equivalent education in a relevant field.
  • Professional designation such as P. Eng. or PMP or in progress is highly desirable.
  • 3-6 years of experience in project management, with a focus on large-scale, multi-pronged stakeholders in infrastructure, construction, or technology projects.
  • Proven track record of successfully managing multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Experience working in the aviation or transportation industry is a plus.

WHAT ELSE

  • Strong knowledge of project management principles, methodologies, and tools.
  • Experience with projects budgets of $5M and in managing some aspect(s) of larger projects as directed by a more senior Project Manager/Director
  • Excellent organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage competing deadlines.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively engage with stakeholders at all levels.
  • Proficiency in project management software (e.g., MS Project, Primavera) and familiarity with financial management tools.
  • Detail-oriented with a strong focus on quality and safety.
  • Proactive and solution-oriented, with a strong commitment to achieving project objectives.
  • Collaborative team player with a positive attitude and a strong work ethic.
  • Adaptable and resilient, with the ability to manage change and uncertainty.
  • Biligualism in French is an asset.
