The Calgary Airport Authority manages and operates YYC Calgary International Airport and YBW Springbank Airport and collaborates with the many partners who make up YYC - from airlines to government agencies and retail outlets. WHAT YOU WILL DO

RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

  • Conduct research on emerging products and IT solutions including hardware, software, database, web, cyber security, and network technologies to support innovation, systems improvement, and strategic IT planning.
  • Develop comprehensive architectural blueprints that outline the technology components, infrastructure, and processes needed to achieve business objectives.
  • Assess various technology options, considering factors such as cost, scalability, security, and compatibility with existing systems.
  • Ensure that proposed solutions align with the organization"s overall IT strategy and architecture.
  • Oversee the implementation of technology solutions, providing technical guidance and addressing challenges.
  • Continuously monitor and optimize the performance of technology solutions to ensure they meet evolving business needs.
  • Create and maintain detailed technical documentation for solutions, including system diagrams, data flow diagrams, and implementation plans.
  • Document concepts and requests from groups of stakeholders and convert these into a business and/or technical plan in preparation for stakeholder workshops, consultant engagements on RFP documents to design effective IT solutions.
  • Maintain deep understanding of the Authority’s systems and processes. Aim to improve efficiency and reduce costs by optimizing existing systems.
  • Using IT modeling techniques to define requirements, system design, and integrations.
  • Facilitate communication between IT and other departments for new technologies implementations.
  • Design and oversee process automation platforms.
  • Contribute to the Annual Capital Program, ensuring that IT needs are met for both Calgary International and Springbank Airports.
  • Actively participate in the IT department, engage in professional development, and maintain operational knowledge of business applications.
  • Develop business cases along with associated cost / benefit analysis, risks, implications, and options.

WHAT YOU BRING

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science or similar.
  • Deep understanding of IT architecture, including applications, networking, cloud, and Microsoft tools with at least 6 years of related experience.
  • Experience with various methodologies for workflow automation and operational support.
  • Familiarity with system development lifecycle, cybersecurity, and airport-specific standards (e.g., IATA STB, CUTE).
  • Strong listening, speaking, and writing skills; ability to adapt communication style.
  • Efficient handling of multiple tasks and deadlines.
  • Identifying and mitigating technical and system-related risks.
  • Making impactful decisions regarding project quality and costs.

WHAT ELSE

  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a restricted area identification card (RAIC).
  • This role will be eligible to participate in our hybrid work model.
